Informational Meeting Agenda

Applause - Cob Wall, Knox Compost, last year's accomplishments (cook out, Opening Day, Hope Central lesson and plot, work days, garden and plots well-maintained, workshops: non-native plants, composting, edible flowers, Beardsley Farm berry planting)

Work days
March 22nd, 9AM-noon - have mulch by then
Tools
Look for weed whacker and wheelbarrow
Chad submitted grant for $300-$500 for tools - paint the tools when we get them
Scan yard/estate sales for tools to use
Seeds
Outside resources (mulch, bed materials)
Mulch - Bryan/Matt will call city Horticulture dept to have in time for workday
We will use mulch in beds and along the fence line
Burlap bags donated (and currently at garden for use)
Mowing grass
Key for shed
Compost
Add anything from the garden except for anything that's diseased or woody
Half of it is available for the garden
Plot signs
Kat will have these ready for the work day

Community Outreach
Plot rentals (sign garden guidelines, collect fees)
Workshops
Opening Day
We will sign up for plots here - gardeners from last year have first dibs
11AM-2PM
Cook out/Pot luck

Community plot (herbs? greens?)
We will create a large plot in the open space near the garden fence running along 5th

15 April 2013 - Meeting Highlights
  • Maintenance
    • Beds - Finish building walls of bed with concrete and wood on Saturday, April 27th.
    • Water - When water tanks are empty they need some repairs
    • Mowing - Bryan, Ben, and James
    • Manure - coming soon
    • Mulch - coming this week

    • Flyer once every one or two months to announce workshops (for those without internet)

    • Send Thank You letters to Stanley's Greenhouse and the Knoxville Botanical Gardens
    • Stamp business cards with new phone number
    • Setup googledoc for next meeting agenda (Meeting Monday, April 28th)
    • Start a bank account (pushed to next meeting) 
    • Update letterhead to include phone number
  • Plot "renters"
    • There is no charge to have a plot
    • If a plot is not used by 15 May, then it becomes a community plot and will be planted accordingly.
    • Plot users need to sign the contract/waiver
