OPENING DAY
On April 12th, the garden officially opened! We had a blast with neighbors and community members enjoying the garden together. And a HUGE "Thank You" to Marina Orchestra for serenading us with an exclusive acoustic set.

WORK DAY
On March 22nd, PCG members freshened up the garden to get it ready for the new season. If you couldn't make it to the work day and are still looking to rent a plot, please email us at parkridge.community.garden@gmail.com. It's $5 for the season, and you'll need to sign a Garden Guidelines form. Feel free to come by and say hi, too! Here are some pictures from this past weekend:

GARDEN INFORMATIONAL MEETING
On March 1st, we brainstormed plans for the upcoming season. We discussed plot rentals, repairs, work days, workshops, community events, and other topics brought to the table. For those who couldn't make it, refer to the Meeting Notes page for a summary of the discussion.

COB WALL CONSTRUCTION WORKSHOP
On February 8th, Chad Hellwinckel demonstrated how to construct a cob wall. The garden's current cob wall is the clay structure holding the sign. He and a group of dedicated volunteers repaired the Garden sign and learned about basic construction techniques using cob. Thanks to everyone who helped!

NEIGHBORHOOD COOK-OUT
What better way to survive the heat than to have a cook out? On July 20th, we celebrated with people from all over Parkridge and brought a potluck dish to join in the fun!

LEARNING ABOUT NON-NATIVE PLANTS

STRAWBERRY PLANTING

HOPE CENTRAL
On 22 April, Hope Central brought neighborhood kids to work in garden bed #8.  A big thanks to everyone for participating in the garden!

OPENING EVENT
The Opening Event was 7 April, 2103 from 2:00-5:00 p.m., and there was a great response! All but one of the beds was claimed for individual gardening, leaving one bed as a community plot! Community plots are for everyone to plant and harvest; so keep your eyes open for the communal veggies.
